Tout n’est qu’influence, or “It’s All About Influence,” is the second exhibition at the 8 Avenue Matignon gallery. It showcases the influence that some of the most iconic Pop Art, Surrealist, and Post-Impressionist artists had on the creations of three significant 20th-century designers: Ettore Sottsass, François-Xavier Lalanne, and Jean Royère.
The scenography Cécile Degos conceived for this group show takes place over three stories.
Pop Art pieces by Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and Tom Wesselmann are displayed side by side with Ettore Sottsass’s vases and totems on the ground floor. François-Xavier Lalanne’s animals are on view on the first level next to Surrealist works by Salvador Dalí and René Magritte, as well as two portraits of Diego Giacometti by his brother Alberto. On the second floor, exceptional pieces by Henri Rousseau, Henri Matisse, and Alexander Calder dialogue with Jean Royère’s iconic furniture
