Biography
Josh Sperling, born in 1984 in Oneonta, New York, is an American contemporary artist known for his paintings and sculptures featuring vibrant geometric forms. After studying at the State University of New York at Potsdam, Sperling developed a unique visual language, straddling the line between abstract art and design. Sperling's works are characterized by dynamic compositions based on curving and sinuous forms, reminiscent of the aesthetics of the 60s and 70s. Using plywood panels as a support, he creates sculptural reliefs in bright colors that seem to burst from the wall. Sperling draws inspiration from diverse sources, ranging from op art to popular culture, graphic design, and architecture. His murals and site-specific installations transform spaces, creating a dialogue between the artwork and its environment. Exhibited in galleries and institutions worldwide, from New York to Tokyo and Paris, Sperling's works have quickly garnered attention from collectors and art enthusiasts. His distinctive style, combining formal rigor with visual exuberance, has established him as one of the most prominent emerging artists of his generation. With his joyful and energetic creations, Josh Sperling reinvents geometric abstraction for the 21st century, bringing a touch of freshness and dynamism to contemporary art.
