Banksy British, b. 1974

Despite remaining anonymous, Banksy is one of the most well-known street artists of our day. Known by his pseudonym Banksy, he first gained notoriety for his graffiti, which combine spray paint and stencil methods with modern, political, and commercial themes mixed with satirical social criticism and humour. In the middle of the 1990s, his work initially started to show up on walls in and around Bristol's and London's Shoreditch neighbourhood. Since then, he has continued to install images on billboards, public spaces, and the sides of corporate buildings. A new Banksy piece is frequently unveiled with pranks or performances that draw attention from all over the world. Apart from his graffiti, Banksy regularly opens his shows to large crowds and critical acclaim. He also regularly makes art for various charities.
