Harold Ancart Belgian, b. 1980

Harold Ancart is renowned for his minimalist paintings and installations that explore notions of perception, space, and color. Ancart studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre in Brussels. Since his artistic debut in the mid-2000s, he has created works characterized by simple forms, vibrant colors, and a spontaneous gestural touch. His abstract paintings, often large-scale, are executed with a reduced palette and refined compositions. Ancart is interested in how color and form interact with architectural space, creating subtle dialogues between his canvases and their environment. Beyond painting, Ancart creates site-specific installations that transform the perception of space. He uses raw materials like concrete or charcoal, creating sculptural interventions that question our relationship to space and matter. Harold Ancart's works have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris, WIELS in Brussels, and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. He is represented by the gallery David Zwirner and lives and works between Brooklyn and New Orleans.
